Fernet con Coca
Fernet con Coca is bittersweet, herbal, caramel-like, and intensely refreshing. The cola softens Fernet Branca’s bold medicinal botanicals, creating a simple highball that is far greater than the sum of its parts.
Ingredients
Para servir
- 120 mlFernet Branca
- 360 mlCoca-Cola, well chilled
- 300 gice cubes
Instructions
- 1
Chill 2 tall glasses for a few minutes if possible. Fill each glass about three-quarters full with ice cubes; plenty of ice keeps the drink cold and slows dilution.
- 2
Pour 60 ml Fernet Branca into each glass over the ice.
- 3
Top each glass with 180 ml well-chilled Coca-Cola. Pour gently to control the foam, leaving a little headspace at the top.
- 4
Give each drink one brief, gentle stir to combine without knocking out too much carbonation. Serve immediately while icy cold.

Notes
- •A common Argentine ratio is roughly 30% Fernet to 70% cola, but you can adjust to taste.
- •Use very cold Coca-Cola and lots of ice for the cleanest, most balanced flavor.
- •Serve in tall straight-sided glasses for the classic bar style presentation.
Background
Fernet con Coca became a modern Argentine icon, especially associated with Córdoba, where the drink achieved massive popularity in bars, homes, and asado gatherings. Although Fernet originated in Italy, Argentines embraced it and transformed it into a national long drink by mixing it with cola over ice.
