Margarita Clásica

Margarita Clásica is bright, brisk, and refreshing, with the clean bite of tequila, orange sweetness from triple sec, and sharp fresh lime. The salted rim adds contrast and makes each sip taste colder, livelier, and more balanced.

Ingredients

Para el borde de sal

  • 4 gfine sea salt
  • 1 piecelime wedge

Para la margarita

  • 100 mltequila blanco
  • 40 mltriple sec
  • 50 mlfresh lime juice
  • 300 gice cubes

Para servir

  • 2 pieceslime wheel

Instructions

  1. 1

Spread the fine sea salt on a small plate. Rub the cut side of the lime wedge around the outer rim of 2 glasses, then dip the rims lightly into the salt to coat. For a cleaner drink, salt only half the rim so each sip can be adjusted.

  2. 2

Fill a cocktail shaker with the ice cubes. Pour in the tequila blanco, triple sec, and fresh lime juice.

  3. 3

Shake hard for 12-15 seconds, until the shaker feels very cold and frosty on the outside. This quick, vigorous shake chills the drink properly and gives the right amount of dilution.

  4. 4

Strain evenly into the prepared glasses. Serve straight up, or add a few fresh ice cubes if you prefer it on the rocks.

  5. 5

Garnish each glass with a lime wheel and serve immediately while ice-cold.

Background

The Margarita is one of Mexico's most famous cocktails, though its exact origin is disputed, with several stories linking it to bartenders and socialites in the 1930s and 1940s. What is consistent is its classic structure: tequila balanced with orange liqueur and fresh lime, served with a salted rim that highlights the drink's bright acidity.
